Etsy Shop Breakthrough: Boldly Launching & Thriving

Hi, I’m Amy, and if you had told me a year ago that I’d be running an Etsy shop, I probably wouldn’t have believed you. But here I am, the owner of Library of Rivendell, a shop dedicated to bookish digital prints. It’s been an exciting (and slightly overwhelming) journey, and I wanted to share a bit about how I got here, what I’ve learned so far, and what’s next.

Why I Started my Etsy Shop, Library of Rivendell

Books have always been a huge part of my life. I used to run a BookTube channel and a Bookstagram account, sharing my love of reading and connecting with a wonderful bookish community. Over time, I found myself drawn to the creative side of things—photography, design, and making book-inspired content. Even though I eventually stepped away from video content, my passion for books and creativity never faded.

That’s what led me to Etsy. I wanted to create something that combined my love of literature with my interest in design. Digital prints felt like the perfect starting point—affordable, accessible, and a great way to offer book lovers something unique for their walls, reading nooks, or journals.

What I’ve Learned So Far

Starting an Etsy shop has been a learning curve, but here are a few things I’ve picked up along the way:

🔹 Done is better than perfect – I spent a lot of time overthinking my shop setup, my branding, and my first products. But at some point, you just have to start. I realized I could refine things as I go.

🔹 SEO matters – Etsy is a search-driven platform, so learning how to use keywords in my titles, tags, and descriptions has been essential. I’m still improving, but tools like Erank have been really helpful.

🔹 Marketing is just as important as creating – I thought I could just list my products and people would find them. Not quite! Promoting my designs on Pinterest and Instagram has been key to getting more visibility.

🔹 You don’t need to have everything figured out – My shop will evolve over time. Right now, I’m focused on digital prints, but I might expand into other bookish products in the future.

What’s Next?

I’m working on adding more designs to Library of Rivendell and refining my style. I also want to experiment with themed collections—maybe literary quotes, vintage-inspired bookish art, or seasonal designs. And, of course, I’ll be sharing more behind-the-scenes insights here on the blog!

If you’ve ever thought about starting an Etsy shop, my biggest advice is to just go for it. Start small, experiment, and learn as you go. And if you’re a fellow book lover, I hope you’ll check out Library of Rivendell!

Have you ever sold on Etsy or considered it? I’d love to hear your thoughts!

Amy x
